The effect of her touch on him is similar; it's easier for him to talk about his past when her hand is in his, or they're close enough for him to draw strength from her presence. It makes him feel reaffirmed that everything he remembers did happen, that it was all real, and he isn't going mad.

Emma is so much more than she gives herself credit for.

"The wolves - like the one wolf we saw -" whom he hasn't seen since that fateful day in the graveyard "- they were my family. I didn't spend a whole lot of time around people, and the ones I did meet weren't always savoury.

"Those stories aren't all truthful either."

His smile is a little sobered.

The story of Emma's parents, for example, was a little more than 'love at first sight' and 'getting married two seconds after'.
